Support
BORK Audiobooks plays free public domain audiobooks recorded by LibriVox volunteers. It runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple Vision Pro and Android, and here on the web.
Questions, problems or ideas: write to support@modulardreams.com. Please mention your device, the app version (in the App Store or Google Play listing) and, for a problem with one recording, the book and chapter.
Common questions
Is it really free?
Yes. The books are in the public domain and the recordings were donated by LibriVox volunteers. There is no account, no subscription and no advertising. Links to Amazon and other shops are there for anyone who also wants a printed copy. As an affiliate of some of these shops, BORK may earn from qualifying purchases; as an Amazon Associate BORK earns from qualifying purchases.
What does "Skip announcements" do?
Every LibriVox chapter starts with a short spoken notice and ends with another one. BORK can skip them so the story starts right away. None plays the whole recording; Some, the default, and Max skip less or more of the notices.
A chapter starts or ends in the wrong place
Trimming is worked out for each recording and is occasionally off. Set Skip announcements to None to hear the whole chapter. On the web the seek bar always covers the whole recording: the marks show where the trim starts and ends, and you can drag past them. We redo the trimming of every recording from time to time as it improves, so a wrong cut is often fixed on its own; let us know the book and chapter so we can fix it sooner.
Can I listen offline?
Yes, in the apps. Tap Download on a chapter or book while you are connected; downloads are listed under Downloads and play without a connection. The web version needs a connection.
Where are my stars and my place in a book?
On your device. On Apple devices your starred books and chapters, the chapter you last played and your Skip announcements setting sync between your devices through your own iCloud account. On the web they are kept in your browser, so they are not shared with the apps.
A book is missing or a recording has a problem
BORK shows the LibriVox catalogue, and new LibriVox books are added as they are released. Problems inside a recording itself but not related to playback are best reported to LibriVox. Neither BORK Audiobooks nor any other BORK app is affiliated with LibriVox.
