William Weekley was graduate of Asbury Seminary, Wilmore, Kentucky, and a bishop in the Church of the United Brethren in Christ. From his preface, "In the preparation of this little volume I have been actuated mainly by a desire to benefit my ministerial brethren. The testimonies presented will, I trust, not only inspire in them greater confidence in the religion of Christ to save in death, but will furnish a class of illustrations for the pulpit not to be found anywhere else in book form. The "last words" of nearly two hundred and fifty ministers and ministers' wives are recorded in the following pages." - Summary by Larry Wilson
